Colchester Rovers each year has historically put on a summer race, the Abberton Road Race.

This year, it will be The Tony Asplin Memorial Race, it has been just over a year since Tony passed away and we feel this would be a very fitting tribute to him.

Tony lived and breathed the Colchester Rovers, he loved this club and dedicated a huge amount of time to it, through being the club secretary and working out most of the results from our different race events, helping at every event we put on and in his own true to self-style, supporting each participant. Tony was also a BC commissaire, so not only supported us but also other clubs around the country.

Tony’s love for the Rovers extended even after his death, he kindly bequeathed a sum from his estate to benefit the club, its members and its future.

We, the committee are requesting your help to run this event which will be held at the Northern Gateway on 21.08.2022, Greg Andrews will be posting a volunteer form on the Facebook page with details on times and what we require to enable a fun exciting event to happen.

The committee has also made the decision with the support of our captain and other ride organisers not to organise a club ride on that day, to allow people the opportunity to help or even come and enjoy some racing and see the other side of the club.

We hope to see as many as you possible come out and support this event in memory of a fellow Rover.

Kind Regards
Colchester Rovers Committee.
