The monies withdrawn this month were a donation to Wheels for All for £661.44, Deposit to the Officers Club of £250 for presentation night. The club paid for Chris Douglas to attend a level 2 coaching course, cost £285.
Matthew Haigh asked about affiliation to the CTT as the website is showing the club as not affiliated. Maggie to look into this and report back. Tom asked if the club would pay for Andrew and Amelia Hopper to attend a level 2 coaching course. Nick (Chairman) said that perhaps we should have a coaches meeting and that we must have some commitment before paying for any courses.
- New Members
Since the last meeting we have had the following new members: Stanley Daniels, Claire Poole and Master Matthew Meadows. Justin said that there had been 139 renewals. Nick (chairman) said that Thomas Cycles were not happy to accept the QR codes and the fact that they had to phone for verification. Justin said that he now has this sorted and will
inform the members. Nick (Chairman) said that he has sorted the cards and should have these shortly. Once the cards are received Nick will organize a night at NGW.
Nick said that he was also looking at other things to do on the monthly social night. A possible alternative is a 1 hour session in the cycling studio this would cost £90 and we could possible run it in Jan/Feb. Nick will report back once he has looked into dates etc
- Road/Circuit racing
Greg was unable to attend the meeting but Malcolm informed the Committee that he and Nick had been to the date fixing meeting on 10th December where they put the case for continuing with the Jock Wadley being in March. It was due to the shortage of Commissairs that the Region was asking for the Wadley to be in June. There was a lot of backing from the meeting for the Wadley to remain as a standalone race and it being held in March. It was thanks to David Hales agreeing to have his race on the circuit that it was agreed that the Wadley can be run in March.
Malcolm informed the Committee that we cannot have the Paxman Academy and we are looking for an alternative venue to hold the race possibly Shrub End or Layer Village Hall (now confirmed) Malcolm said that there was no sponsorship as yet as the usual sponsor Kent Blaxill has been sold. Nicky said that she will approach the people who sponsored the Circuit races and will get back to us.
The date for the Centurion races is going to be 29th April and 15th July.
- TT
Nick Rowley was unable to attend the meeting but Nick (Chairman) reported that he had provisionally put together a calendar for 2023 and would be putting something out in the next few weeks.
- Presentation night
Nicky said that she has booked the Officers Club for Saturday 18th February (now to be 8th April). Nicky asked what entertainment did we want. Possibly Rolla Pulza again or something different. Maybe a Quiz or Scalectric Nicky said that she will put this on Face Book and see what the opinion is. The Officers Club will do the catering and this will be a Curry, Chilli, and something Vegetarian.
Nick raised the Clubman of the year and asked for any nominations to be sent to Maggie.
- Succession management/ member engagement – Not discussed
- A.O.B.
Nick (Chairman) said that we should be looking at updating the website and if anyone has any ideas to let him know.
Nick (Chairman) said that he had been approached by Ray Robins to attend a Ride Leaders Course. Nick agreed this with a view to holding a Ride Leaders meeting so that we can look at what we expect from our Ride Leaders. With this in mind has set a date of 24th or 31st January, the meeting to be held at Stanway village hall commencing at 7.30. Maggie will book the room.
Stuart said that he had been asked if the club would consider getting some newer Bike Boxes. Stuart is going look at the prices and will let the committee know.
Paul confirmed that the Reliability will be held on 2nd April and will be from Great Bromley Village Hall.
The Runners v Riders had gone very well with over 100 participants. There were a lot more runners than riders. It was a well done to Cam Hurst for coming 1st and Issac Starmer coming 2nd.
Tom gave an update on the Youth. As NGW is very expensive and is no longer viable Tom has had a meeting with Abby and Ian from British Cycling and will be handing the Saturday sessions over to them. They will still use the club’s coaches to assist with the sessions.
Tom has done his level 2 coaching. There is more development needed for the youth and Tom is hoping to have a series in the summer.
Nick (Chairman) asked if Tom would like a youth session on Thursday nights when they recommence. Tom said no he would prefer to have track time only for the youth.
We had a discussion on the Saturday rides and Helen mentioned how other clubs run their rides. It was agreed that the Ride Leaders need to step up. This will be discussed separately at the Ride Leaders meeting in January.
Tom asked if we could have some more water bottles. Nick asked Maggie to sort this.
The meeting closed at 9.14pm
