The result of the second Midweek TT of the 2023 season is detailed below. Thank you to all those who helped to make this event possible Steven, Claire, Nick R, Elaine, & Keith,
The event was the first on our new 10-mile TT course starting outside the old Heath Hospital and finishing at Stones Green via Beaumont, Great Oakley and Wix. The general feeling from the riders after the event was that the new course was safer with better sight lines at junctions.
The conditions were blustery, – Recent Rain, Drying Road, 8°C, WSW Wind, 6..2 mph
The winner Jamie Watson was 36 seconds quicker than his previous best time on the old Tendring 10 course. The fastest Road bike was Mark Ketterer with a very competitive time just shy of 24.5 mph. Mark posted an impressive improvement 27 seconds quicker than his fastest time last year.
Greg Andrews made his first appearance of the year and claimed 2nd fastest road bike.
Our fastest lady was Maria Johnson, riding a road bike, with an impressive time of 49 seconds quicker than her best at Tendring last year.
Following this first event, I think we can expect the course to be generally quicker and safer than the previous version. We will make some changes to the start position next time to help everyone stay safe. Traffic numbers on the starting road will also drop with a later start time.
New riders are always welcome, Come and have a TT ride in a fun supportive environment. You will become addicted. Remember you are only racing against yourself
