On Monday evening, local rider Cameron Hurst (Velo Schils – Interbike RT) secured the series victory of the first Colchester Rovers Summer Cyclocross series at Hilly Fields with a second round win.
Cameron said’ It was a great course; very technical and lots of fun. It’s great to be racing again and I look forward to coming back next year to defend this title.’
Cameron achieved his victory against local rider Daniel Hall (Colchester Rovers) and Eastern Region rider Kieran Jarvis (Brother UK-Orientation Marketing). In securing victory in the series, Cameron also finished ahead of Junior National Champion Joseph Smith (Tofauti Everyone Active).
Other series winners included Nigel Herrod (ROTOR Race Team) in the Open B series, Issac Starmer (Colchester Rovers) in the Youth Series, Frank Spauls (Stonham Barns Park – SYRT) in the Under 12 Boys Series and Elizabeth Whall (Colchester rovers) in the Under 12 Girls Series.
The series was organised by Colchester Rovers Youth Coach Simon Wilson as a warm up event for the cyclocross season which starts in early September.
